Hamilton man killed in motorcycle accident

FAIRFIELD TWP. - A 30-year-old Hamilton man died when his motorcycle struck a tree on Allison Avenue, just north of the Hamilton city limits.

Police aren't sure of the time of death. A newspaper carrier saw the motorcycle headlight at 4:30 a.m. Saturday "on a very dark, deserted stretch of roadway" and alerted authorities, said Richard St. John, Fairfield Township police chief.

Chad Ebbing, the motorcyclist, apparently was not wearing a helmet, the chief said.

Man hospitalized after vehicle strikes car, tree

NORTH FAIRMOUNT - A Madisonville man's car crossed the centerline Friday night on Westwood Northern Boulevard and struck an on-coming vehicle, then traveled down a steep embankment and hit a tree.

William Montgomery, 34, of Dunning Place, was trapped in the car for a short time before being taken to University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday. Officials with the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit say alcohol and excessive speed were "contributing factors" in the crash. Montgomery was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident happened at 11:52 p.m., between Sutter Ave. and Beekman St.

Raymond Gamble, 61, of McHenry Ave., Westwood, was driving the car hit by Montgomery. He was not injured.

Boy injured during apartment fire dies

NORTH COLLEGE HILL - The 3-year-old boy firefighters rescued from a burning apartment building Friday morning died Saturday night at Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Firefighters found Kevon Farley wrapped in a blanket in a corner of a bedroom in a second-floor apartment at 8 Columbine Court when they responded to 9:43 a.m. report of a fire.

The fire was started by a child - whom authorities didn't identify - playing with a lighter in the laundry room of Kevon's apartment.

Woman carjacked at Colerain supermarket

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - A 70-year-old Mount Airy woman was thrown to the ground by a man who took her car keys and stole her car from a supermarket parking lot Saturday afternoon.

The woman, Hazel Clemons was returning to her vehicle after grocery shopping in the 6400 block of Colerain Avenue about 12:45 p.m. when a man threw her to the ground, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect - described as a white male in his 30s about 5-foot-10, heavyset with sandy blond, close-cut hair and wearing shorts and no shirt - fled the parking lot heading south on Colerain Avenue in the victim's car.

Clemons was transported to Franciscan Hospital-Mount Airy for treatment of minor injuries.

The stolen car is a 1996 black Mazda bearing Ohio license plate 6941GA.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Patrol at 825-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
