A painting by Dutch master Johannes Vermeer that until recently was thought to be a fake on display in New York today and Wednesday before it goes on sale in London this summer.
The painting, "Young Woman Seated at the Virginals," will be the first Vermeer sold at auction since 1921. It is expected to sell for more than $5 million on July 7.
Researchers spent more than 10 years studying the painting, thought to have been executed around 1670, before concluding that it was authentic.
The canvas of a young woman at a keyboard joins the other 35 acknowledged Vermeers in existence.
