Fairfield's River Rd. to close for 2 months
FAIRFIELD - River Road near Cincinnati's Bolton Water Treatment Plant will close to all traffic in mid-June for two months for repair of landslide damage from Jan. 4 flooding.
The temporary one-lane bypass, which opened March 5, will be blocked off when Sunesis Construction of West Chester Township begins the $408,007 project, said City Manager Art Pizzano. Crews will fill in the washed-out riverbank and rebuild the two-lane road, he said.
Signs will alert motorists to closure of the road, which provides access to U.S. 27 (Colerain Avenue), Northgate Mall, Ross Township, Oxford and Procter & Gamble's Miami Valley Laboratories in Colerain Township.
EPA says no arsenic in Warren Co. water
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency now reports that drinking water in southern Warren County does not have arsenic detections.
There was a mislabeling of where earlier water samples were taken from in the Warren County water system for Hamilton and Deerfield townships, which led to earlier confusion.
Three arsenic samples were detected in August 2003, but they were taken from ground-water monitoring wells for the wellhead protection program. The Ohio EPA reports that the monitoring wells have nothing to do with drinking water and are used only to gather information about an aquifer.
