"Ogre green" is definitely summer's top hue, with Shrek 2's debut. But the green isn't limited to the silver screen. The wise-cracking, somewhat mild-mannered monster has spawned hundreds of toys, watches, bed sheets, snacks, computer games and other products, since DreamWorks hooked up with about 80 companies.
Hasbro and Sensory put out Wise Crackin' Shrek and Wise Crackin' Donkey plush toys (about $29.95) that "talk" and "hear," responding to a range of pre-defined questions.
Frito-Lay is offering Cheetos that turns your tongue green. General Mills has Pop Secret green Shrek 2 microwave popcorn.
These three Shrek candy collectibles are from Galerie Clearance Center in Hebron, near the airport. Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Information: (859) 538-8080.
