LSU's Kristen Schmidt pitched two complete games Sunday as the Tigers (57-12) eliminated Florida State and beat California to force a second game against the Golden Bears.
In her third start, she struggled after retiring the first two batters in the fifth inning - her 19th inning of the day.
Lindsay James and Haley Woods singled before Schmidt walked Kaleo Eldredge and Jessica Pamanian to force in the tying run. Spencer followed with an infield single and Sutton extended the lead with a single to left.
Cal (53-12) will get another shot at UCLA (46-9), which got a nine-inning no-hitter from Keira Goerl in a 1-0 win in the championship game last year.
Goerl (30-7) scattered 11 hits and Lisa Dodd drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the 12th in the Bruins' semifinal win Sunday.
The Bruins are in the title game for the 17th time in 23 years. UCLA has won 10 national titles.
Goerl went the distance for UCLA, throwing 167 pitches in her longest game of the season. Stanford's only run came on Jessica Allister's first-inning single that scored Catalina Morris to tie the game at 1.
Caitlin Benyi homered to left off Dana Sorenson (34-11) for UCLA's first run, and Stephanie Ramos knocked in an insurance run for the Bruins in the 12th.
Earlier in the day, Stanford (49-19) beat Oklahoma 3-2 to eliminate the Sooners (45-22-1) in a game that was suspended after five innings Saturday with Oklahoma ahead 2-1.
LSU beat Florida State 2-1 to advance to the semifinals. Then the Tigers got a home run from Leslie Klein and a two-run double from LaDonia Hughes in a 4-1 win against California, which had been undefeated in the tournament.
Schmidt struck out 12 in a four-hitter against the Seminoles (62-12), and gave up seven hits and struck out eight against California.
She got a standing ovation when she was replaced with two outs in the sixth inning of her third game of the day.
