The Cincinnati Enquirer
CBS is bringing reality television home.
In its quest to find the next "Diva of Domesticity," the network is seeking contestants for a show that will pit 12 creative types against each other in weekly tasks of gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, floral arranging and decorating.
Show staff will be recruiting contestants and answering questions 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at Summerfair at Coney Island.
"We're looking for the next domestic icon - a man or woman over 21 who can do it all - cook, garden, plan a party," says Robyn Kass, casting director for Domestication Diva, the show's working title.
"We want someone TV-friendly (comfortable in front of cameras) who is willing to change their lives," Kass says. "Unlike other reality TV show where they pick a winner and they all go home, this could lead to a TV show, a magazine ... We want someone who looking for a full-time job the rest of their years."
For the show, scheduled to start airing in January, contestants will live together "somewhere in the northeastern United States" and compete, with one being eliminated each week by a panel of expert judges.
Ready to apply? Find the form online at www.cbs.com. A two-minute creative videotape demonstrating why the applicant believes he or she is a candidate to reign on the domestic throne - and two color photos - must accompany application forms. Application deadline: June 18.
