design award
Clippard Instrument Laboratory in Groesbeck received the Fluid Power Product of the Year award from Design News magazine for a medical valve. Clippard's valve has a variable position armature to extend its life. Contest judges said the accuracy and long life of the valve made it attractive for applications such as anesthesia machines, respirators and ventilators.

Officials from nonprofit Omeris, the Ohio Department of Development and the Columbus and Cincinnati Chambers of Commerce are touting bioscience in the Buckeye State at an exhibit booth Monday-Wednesday at the BIO 2004 Convention in San Francisco. It's the largest biotechnology conference in the world.
