The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music will award an honorary doctorate of fine arts to Randy Edelman, composer of more than 60 film scores (My Cousin Vinny, Ghostbusters II, The Last of the Mohicans), and a 1969 CCM grad.
Edelman, a native of Teaneck, N. J., got his start freelancing as music arranger at King Records in Cincinnati. His music includes NBC's NFL football theme, ESPN's Sports Century series theme, the Olympic theme for NBC and an Emmy--winning score for the Atlanta Olympics broadcast. His music has been performed by the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops, among others.
Edelman will receive the honor at the June 11 commencement.
