ADA, Mich. - Jim Thorpe finally won the Farmers Charity Classic title that had been so elusive.
Thorpe claimed a one-stroke victory for his first win of the season Sunday after second-round co-leader Andy Bean passed out in the caddie tent and could not tee off.
Bean, 51, was taken by ambulance from the course to a Grand Rapids hospital with an allergic reaction after eating sausage and a muffin for breakfast. Bean was treated and released and returned to the course two hours later.
Thorpe closed with a 6-under-par 66 after starting the third round three strokes off the lead. He survived a double-bogey 6 on No. 18 to finish at 13-under 203.
LPGA TOUR: Karrie Webb won for the first time this year, playing a bogey-free final round for a five-shot victory at the Kellogg-Keebler Classic in Aurora, Ill.
The Australian had a two-stroke lead to begin the last round and never faltered, making five birdies in a 67 to finish 16-under-par 200 and hold off Annika Sorenstam and two others.
It was Webb's 30th win on tour, but just her second in the last two years. Webb, 29, who once dominated the tour, dropped to 11th on the money list last year - the first time in her career she failed to finish in the top five.
EUROPEAN PGA TOUR: England's Simon Khan made a 3-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to beat countryman Paul Casey and win the Wales Open.
Khan, who had a course-record 61 in the second round, rallied from four shots off the lead over the final seven holes. He birdied Nos. 13, 14 and 16 and closed with a 5-under 67. The victory was his first on the European tour.
Casey, who held a three-stroke lead after three rounds, made a double-bogey at No. 15 in a 2-under 70 and finished tied with Khan at 21-under 267.
After both players made par on the first extra hole, Casey hit his second shot on the second playoff hole right of the green and left his third shot in the rough. He chipped on and two-putted for bogey.
Khan hit his second shot just short of the green, putted to within 3 feet and made birdie for the win.
France's Jean-Francois Remesy closed with a 65 and finished third, four strokes behind the leaders. Colin Montgomerie shot a 2-over 74 and was tied for 15th.
