Downtown site for arts school may change
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The board of a fund-raising group for a new K-12 public arts school voted to change the site of the planned school, pending approval from Cincinnati Public Schools.
Bill Knodel, president of the Greater Cincinnati Arts and Education Center fund-raising group, presented the proposed new location to his board Tuesday.
Under a proposal submitted by a development group, the planned $52 million school would be located at Central Parkway and Elm Street in Over-the-Rhine, instead of being adjacent to Music Hall on Elm Street.
The fund-raising group is trying to raise $26 million in private funding for the school, which would replace the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Pendleton and Schiel Primary School for Arts Enrichment in Corryville. Cincinnati Public Schools is contributing the remaining $26 million to build the school.
