The week ahead



Monday: Commerce Department reports on retail sales for May and the trade deficit for April.

Tuesday: Labor Department reports on consumer price index for May; Commerce Department reports on business inventories for April.

Wednesday: Commerce Department reports on housing starts for May; Federal Reserve reports on industrial production for May and issues its beige book survey of regional economic conditions.

Thursday: Conference Board releases its Index of Leading Economic Indicators for May; J.M. Smucker Co. holds special shareholders meeting in Orrville, Ohio, to seek approval for the issuance of Smucker common shares in acquisition of International Multifoods Corp.

Friday: May jobless figures released for Ohio.
