UPDATE: A weekly look at Cincinnati's minor-league soccer team



Cincinnati Ladyhawks week in review: The Ladyhawks lost 5-0 to 2003 W-League finalist Chicago on Friday. The Cobras, who featured Canadian National Team member and former WUSA Atlanta Beat player Charmaine Hooper, withstood several early threats from the Ladyhawks to take an early 2-0 lead into halftime. The Ladyhawks challenged again in the second half. Key players: Kara Gostisha (Lakota West) was a bright spot Friday at defender and midfield. High school All-America forward Parissa Eyorokon (Lakota East) forced 2003 W-League Defensive Player of the Year Fanta Cooper to work hard.

Injuries: For the first time in 5 weeks, the Ladyhawks had no serious injuries. Ashley Garcia returned to practice this week, one week after undergoing a tonsillectomy. .

Week ahead: The Ladyhawks look forward to defense of their U-23 National Championship in Milwaukee. They begin pool play Friday. They will play Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota to earn a berth in the finals Sunday. The winner represents the Midwest region at the National Championships in Orlando in August.
