Eula Bowling

HAMILTON - Sitting in his office Tuesday, Robert Kugler juggled a steady stream of calls from real-estate agents across Southwestern Ohio.
They didn't want to talk about buying or selling properties; Eula Bowling was on their minds.
Bowling, a well-known Hamilton Realtor for more than 40 years, was killed Monday after she was hit by a car on New London Road in Hamilton. The 78-year-old was picking up one of her real-estate signs in front of Stephen T. Badin High School when she was hit.
"She was working when she got hit by the car," said Kugler, her partner and friend for years. "She was totally dedicated to the work. She was in here every day."
Bowling was crossing New London at West Fairway Drive and was not in a designated crosswalk when she was hit.
No charges are pending against the driver of the car, Hamilton Police Officer Don Taylor said.
Bowling was taken by helicopter to University Hospital, where she died, police said.
She is survived by five children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Word of the accident spread quickly throughout real-estate offices in Hamilton Tuesday.
"She had a lot of business in this town, and had made a name for herself ," said Hamilton Realtor Randy Brockman. "People thought well of her."
She had operated the realty company with her husband, Hugh, for decades until he died about 10 years ago. Kugler joined her as a partner a short time later.
"She was a businesswoman," Kugler said. "It was her love."
John Holbrock, a fellow Realtor, worked with Bowling for nearly 35 years.
"At 78 years old, she was doing her own thing, and she had no intention of retiring," he said.
Visitation for Eula Bowling will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, 240 Ross Ave., Hamilton. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lindenwald United Methodist Church, 3501 Pleasant Ave.
