Charge says man raped 37 victims

COLUMBUS - A man linked to a series of rapes through DNA evidence has been charged with raping 37 victims, authorities said.

A grand jury indicted Robert N. Patton Jr. on 135 counts Thursday, including rape, aggravated burglary and robbery.

Police arrested Patton, 40, on June 7 after a sample of his DNA was linked to various rapes in the Columbus area.

The indictment included 11 cases that were linked through DNA.
