Man gets 13 years for fatal shooting
A 20-year-old man accused in a November homicide will spend 13 years in prison, a judge ordered Thursday.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Beth Myers sentenced William Covington on a charge of manslaughter.
Covington fatally shot Raymond Minifield, 24, near Minifield's Bond Hill home the evening of Nov. 1.
Tugboat workers find body in Ohio River
SAYLER PARK - Authorities were working Thursday to identify the body of a man found in the Ohio River.
The body was found about 9 a.m. by workers on a tugboat. They tied a rope around it and towed it to the Ohio side of the river, behind McGinnis Inc. tugboat company along River Road.
Police have not said whether they think foul play might be involved.
The body was taken to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.
Cincinnati police spokesman Lt. Kurt Byrd said the body had started to decompose, making immediate identification difficult.
Colerain Twp. man charged with rape
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - Michael J. Henderson, 35, of Colerain Township was charged Thursday with raping a woman he offered a ride to late Wednesday on North Bend Road.
A 20-year-old Cincinnati woman was walking along North Bend Road about 10 p.m. Wednesday when a man stopped his vehicle and offered her a ride, according to police.
He drove the woman to an apartment on Banning Road where she was trying to find a friend.
Afterward, he drove her to a residence on Georgianna Drive, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.
Henderson was being held Thursday in the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Police setting up highway checkpoint
GEORGETOWN - A sobriety checkpoint will be set up this evening in Brown County to deter and intercept impaired drivers, the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday.
Lt. Brian Rhodes, commander of the Georgetown Post, said officers will be conducting a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment.
The exact location will be announced today.
