Apartment fire under investigation
WESTWOOD - Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire early Saturday at a 33-unit apartment building under renovation.
Twenty-five firefighters from Districts 2 and 3 spent two hours searching the building for tenants and putting out the blaze in a third-floor hallway at 2883 Harrison Ave., fire officials said. Firefighters found no one in the complex.
No one was injured; damage was estimated at about $10,000.
Teen stable after being hit in driveway
WEST CHESTER TWP. - A 15-year-old girl underwent surgery Saturday after being run over as she lay sunbathing in her driveway on Friday.
Police said Susan Ervin, 45, apparently did not see her daughter as she pulled her vehicle into her driveway in the 5000 block of Golf Crest Drive around 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Her daughter, Lauren, was flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said the teen was stable Saturday.
Man charged in slaying during alleged robbery
Cincinnati police have arrested a man in connection with a June 8 homicide.
Brandon Turner, 18, of Cincinnati, was being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on a murder charge Saturday.
A report says Turner, arrested Friday, was among three people police say were involved in the Llewellyn Avenue robbery of Anthony Davis, "when one of his co-defendants fired a gun, killing the victim."
Davis, 48,died at a house on Llewellyn Avenue, where he yelled for the resident to call for help.
3 men accused of firing pellet guns near YMCA
COLERAIN TWP. - Three men are accused of firing at people near a local health club, using pellet guns "resembling actual firearms," a police report says.
The men were inside a vehicle, the report says, shooting pellet guns near the Clippard Family YMCA, 8920 Cheviot Road, around 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Clarence Kevin Stapleton, 19, was arrested Friday afternoon on a charge of inducing panic. He was released Saturday from the Hamilton County Justice Center after posting $1,000 bond. A report says two other people were arrested but released without being jailed.
Vandalism at schools brings two arrests
Two Greater Cincinnati schools were vandalized in unrelated incidents Friday and Saturday.
Stephen T. Saag, 18, of Colerain Township, was in the Hamilton County Justice Center on five charges Saturday, including arson, vandalism, criminal damaging, possession of criminal tools and possession of drugs.
He was arrested after a BB pistol was used to shoot out windows at Pleasant Run Elementary School just before 1 a.m. Saturday. A rock was thrown through another window, and a picnic table was set on fire. Officers caught Saag and a second person behind the school.
Also, a Green Township man is accused of using his vehicle to damage the lawn and a gate at North College Hill High School.
Nick Meier, 20, is charged with criminal damaging and operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Meier's blood-alcohol level was 0.10, according to an arrest report. The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08.
