The knit-and-purl set will be tickled to know that, with the opening of Fiberge in Terrace Park, there's yet another spot in town to put up your feet on a comfy sofa, sip a cup of Joe and get those needles clicking.

Taking over the 100-year-old former Roadside Motel - and most recently a clothing store - partners Vicki Leopold and Evan Corbett have created a cozy multiroom spot for knitting, crocheting and sewing at 702 Indian Hill Road, just off Wooster Pike.

Leopold grew up learning the household crafts that are going through a period of resurgence, and she left 20 years in the IT business for the new venture.

Fiberge has knitting, crocheting and sewing classes, and clubs that meet weekly to work on a project chosen by the group.

It sells yarns from Cascade, Rowan and Karabella and specialty yarns, including elegant recycled silk from Mango Moon in Laguna Beach, Calif., which benefits the women in Nepal who produce the yarn. It also carries alpaca wool - even possum yarn - needles, crochet hooks, sewing machines and all the goods needed to create fiber art. Now if Fiberge can just create for us the will and time needed to do it. Information: 831-9276

For Red Hat shopping: Stores specializing in the red and purple hats and clothes are popping up everywhere. The items are the signature of the Red Hat Society, made up of over-50 women who meet to have fun and enjoy life. Outrageous, one of the boutiques at the Red Door multimerchant retail shop in Mason, stocks racks of bright purple tops, slacks adorned with little red hats, as well as plenty of hats, boas, fans, jewelry, accessories and a sprinkling of pink for the 40-and-over Red Hat juniors. They're not purple, but check out the Danny G slippers with puppy faces made from fabric scraps at Outrageous, 600 Reading Road, Mason. Information: 770-3470.

New teen mag: Justine, the new teen magazine, is at newsstands, and the refreshing thing is the normal-looking girls in the layouts instead of 90-pound skinny Minnies. . There's the requisite "19 Questions with Mary-Kate & Ashley," but that feature is mixed with pool workouts, sushi parties, confidence boosters, and bathing suits that are more than thongs. From Pinpoint Publishing in Memphis. $4.99.

Oscar trunk show: Oscar de la Renta's fall collection of handbags and shoes will be in the spotlight Friday and Saturday at 2700 Erie at Hyde Park Square. Show sales benefit the Interfaith Hospitals Network. Information: 533-0042.

Curves celebrates: Hyde Park Plaza and Mariemont Curves' members are invited, with guests, to celebrate one year of station-to-station fitness 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hyde Park Plaza with a SteinMart fashion show and exhibits from GNC Nutrition, Mary Me Make-up, Reiki Therapy, synergistic massage, Tickel & Tickel Chiropractic and Young Living Essential Oils. Clean, gently used clothes will be collected for the Hamilton County Women's Shelter. Information: 871-7777.
