FRANKFORT - A planned manufacturing plant in London could bring about 165 new jobs to the area, the Fletcher administration announced Thursday.
Toronto-based ABC Group, Inc. is planning to build a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing operation in London, according to a news release. The project is expected to cost more than $19 million.
ABC Group manufactures automotive systems and components.
"I am proud that a nationally and internationally known automotive product leader has chosen to locate in the commonwealth," Gov. Ernie Fletcher stated in a release.
ABC Group makes thermoplastic systems and components for manufacturers of original automotive equipment, according to the release.
The company was founded in 1974 and has more than 30 facilities in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
It has been preliminarily approved for tax breaks from the state under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act.
CEO Mike Schmidt said in a release that the company settled on London because of its "favorable economic climate, quality work force and friendly community."
