The throttle was full force for this year's Biker's Ball, benefiting the American Red Cross. Just in its third year, this event has become a favorite with its less-than-reverent tone.
This year's ball at the West Club of Paul Brown Stadium was hosted by Deanna and Bob Castellini and Ann and Jeff Gibson. The club was the site of one surprise after the next with hardcore bikers, or at least biker wannabes. A surprise was Paycor CEO Bob Coughlin and wife Jeanne. Not only were they in black leather and do-rags, but they had 1-year-old daughter Lilly made up as a biker baby. Also in black leather were Xavier University communications chairwoman Miriam Finch and husband Ned.
Presented by Blank Rome, the evening featured a menu ranging from corn dogs to canapes, music by the Chozen, auctions and a raffle sponsored by Bank One. The grand prize: $10,000 or a 2004 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.
The ball drew more than 500 people and raised an estimated $60,000.
A ride earlier in the day attracted 500 bikers and raised $16,000. Proceeds from the events will support military families and emergency preparedness education.
