Driver charged with assaulting deputy

Public safety briefs

Staff/Wire reports

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - A West Harrison man was arrested Sunday after fleeing a traffic stop and allegedly assaulting a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy.

James M. Bentley, 34, of East Rolling Drive was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer and failure to comply.

Bentley was stopped about 4:40 p.m. on westbound Interstate 275. He drove away and crashed at Blue Rock and Weik Road, authorities said. When he got out of his vehicle, he assaulted the deputy and ran, but was caught nearby, the sheriff's office said.
