Fingerprints free at Kroger stores

Staff/Wire reports

To help parents ensure their children's safety, Court TV is teaming up with Lysol disinfectants to take children's digital fingerprints at Kroger stores. Digital fingerprinting trucks will visit various Kroger stores and give free identification cards for parents' safekeeping. The cards include a digital photo, fingerprints and personal information such as height, weight and hair color.

The trucks will be at 10 Kroger stores over a five-day span: June 30 at stores in Hamilton and Fairfield; the morning of July 1 at 7132 Hamilton Ave. in North College Hill, then in the afternoon at 8685 Winton Road in Springfield Township; the morning of July 2 at 8241 Vine St. in Hartwell, then in the afternoon at 4777 Kenard Ave. in Winton Place; the morning of July 3 at 6401 Colerain Ave., then in the afternoon at 9690 Colerain Ave., both in Colerain Township; and July 4 at Kroger stores in Hamilton and Oxford.

Hazardous waste disposal available

Over the next three months, Hamilton County residents can obtain a free voucher that will allow them to drop off hazardous waste at a centrally located facility.

"We are excited about offering residents an easy way to clean out their basements and garages of hazardous products," said Jeffrey Aluotto, program manager for the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District.

Typical items accepted through this program include pesticides, fertilizers, cleaners, paints, batteries, fire extinguishers and propane tanks.

Participation is limited to the first 4,000 requests. For more information on the hazardous waste program or to receive a voucher, call 946-7734 or visit the Web site: www.hcdoes.org.
