Roger Ach still faces big losses with his Games Inc. Internet company. But his personal legal trouble in Texas appears to be resolved.
Ach's felony indictment for bouncing a check for at least $100,000 in Denton County, Texas, was dismissed after a private settlement with the financial consultant who received the check.
Tim Halter of Halter Financial Group had filed the initial complaint about the check. The payment had been for financial consulting services his company provided to Ach to help make Lottery.com, as Games Inc. then was called, a publicly traded company.
Halter confirmed this week that he and Ach had reached a settlement, but neither he nor Ach would comment further. The indictment was dismissed March 16.
Ach insisted from the beginning that the Halter matter was a business dispute that did not belong in criminal court. He said the issue had no effect on his company's financial struggles.
The indictment was issued in June 2003 but came to a head last September, when Ach surrendered to Texas authorities on the bad-check charge and posted a $7,500 cash bond.
