Endorsement sought for library

KENTON CO. - The Kenton County Library Board hopes to get county planners' endorsement next month of a planned site for a $5.7 million library branch in the Kenton County community of Nicholson. A subcommittee of the Kenton County Planning Commission approved the plan by a vote of 8-3 Thursday. However, the Kenton County Planning Commission voted 10-6 Thursday night to table the recommendation.The issue now goes before county planners in August.

Teachers to get 6.5 percent raises

FORT THOMAS - Fort Thomas teachers will get an average raise of 6.5 percent this school year. The school board this week approved the final phase of a three-year plan to boost salaries by an average of 20 percent. The raises were promised when voters approved an 11 percent increase in the property-tax rate last year.
