Sunday is Independence Day, the one day of the year when everybody in America is a Yankee Doodle, and we mean everybody, almost.

According to the National Retail Federation, which tracks Americans' spending habits, more people bought flags and patriotic apparel this year than they did in 2003.

And they're still spending. More than a quarter (26.6 percent) of more than 7,000 people recently surveyed by the retail federation said they plan to go shopping this weekend to take advantage of special sales and yes, red, white and blue goods.

There's still plenty of time to get out and grab affordable, fun and patriotic finds to adorn your body and your home, and we've made it easier for you by collecting some dandy items.
