OAK HARBOR - The man who authorities say started a chain-reaction accident that killed six people tested positive for marijuana and valium, the State Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

Investigators haven't determined whether those substances, along with alcohol, impaired Brian Woody's ability to drive, Sgt. Rick Zwayer said.

Earlier tests showed that Woody's blood-alcohol was 0.025 percent, which was below the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

No charges have been filed in the accident. Ottawa County Prosecutor Mark Mulligan is planning to review the evidence.

Woody, 28, of Toledo, told police he had two beers at Cedar Point amusement park about nine hours before the accident on June 21 near Lake Erie.

Six people from the Detroit area were killed while on their way home from the park in Sandusky.

The accident began when the sport utility vehicle that Woody was driving went left of center and struck a tractor-trailer, causing the semi to hit a Cadillac Escalade and another car, the patrol said.

The victims, including the driver, his two daughters and his niece, were in the Escalade, which landed upside down in a creek.

According to the crash report, Woody told officers he didn't drive left of center and was sideswiped by the tractor-trailer.

Woody could not be reached for comment Tuesday. There was no telephone listing for him in Toledo.
