ANDERSON TOWNSHIP - Ayer Elementary School's 640 students will see a new face in the principal's office when classes resume next month.
Shirley Curtis takes over as principal Aug. 1. She will earn $83,000 annually.
For the past two years, Curtis, of Fairfield, has been principal at Elda Elementary School in western Butler County. Before Elda, Curtis spent nine years in the Lakota Schools as a teacher and administrator.
Curtis holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University, a master's from Xavier and a doctorate from the University of Cincinnati.
St. Ursula president honored for service
EAST WALNUT HILLS - St. Ursula Academy President Judith A. Wimberg received the St. Ursula Academy Community Service Award at the school and convent's recognition dinner.
Wimberg, who celebrated 30 years of service at St. Ursula Academy, was a teacher and principal and, since 1997, president of the academy. Her gift, Trustee Eleanor B. Irwin said, was her "vision, dedication to the mission and high energy leadership."
Oak Hills district awarded state grants
DELHI TOWNSHIP - The Oak Hills Local School District special services department was awarded three grants from the Ohio Department of Education, Office for Exceptional Children:
The Autism Spectrum Disorder Grant will provide specialized training and materials for teachers who work with children with autism. The grant is for $50,000.
An Access Grant renewal of $11,250 will allow Oak Hills High School staff to continue to write curriculum for special needs students that aligns with state standards.
An Access Grant of $50,000 will be used at Bridgetown, Delhi and Rapid Run middle schools to assist teams of teachers as they align special education instruction with the state academic content standards.
SCPA to hold workshop this month
ROSELAWN - The School for Creative and Performing Arts will hold its fifth annual coed, two-week Music Theater Enrichment Workshop this month.
The workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning July 26, at the Roselawn Condon School, 7735 Greenland Place.
The workshop is open to all Cincinnati Public Schools students in grades 4-12 and those from neighboring districts. Students will take classes in dance, drama and music theater. The cost is $340.

Publisher seeks Milford information
MILFORD - The Milford School District is compiling an alumni directory with the Bernard C. Harris Publishing Co., which will be sending mailers and telephoning graduates over the next several months to verify information provided by the school district.
The Milford School District confirms that the alumni directory is legitimate and graduates can feel secure in providing information to the publishing company. The publishing company will receive any proceeds from directory sales.
