State Science Fair awards
Claire Scheidler, a junior at McNicholas High School, received several awards at the State Science Fair in May. She earned a superior rating for her project; first place in the MARS Society Award for Space Science, Technology or Exploration, and a Science and Mathematics Scholarship, valued at $40,000, from the College of Wooster. Claire spent three years preparing her project "Soybean Monopropellant: The Renewable Rocket Fuel."
State Science Day is the academic equivalent of a state athletic championship. More than 1,000 students in Grades 7-12 from across Ohio exhibited their science research projects and competed for nearly 100 scholarships and awards.
Computer degree
Ryan Crowley, who was named to the winter quarter dean's list with a 4.0 grade point average, has earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Ohio University. He was also inducted into Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.
The St. Xavier High School graduate is the son of Jackie and Jack Crowley of Kenwood.
Bachelor's degree
Denishea Flanigan has earned a bachelor's degree in international business and marketing from the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology and has accepted a territory manager position with Nestle Purina PetCare.
The Withrow High School graduate is the daughter of Vivian and Michael Davis Sr. of Roselawn.
Academic excellence
Miami University student Kate Donohoue, of Springfield Township, has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, which recognizes first- and second-year undergraduate students who excel academically.
Dean's list
Premed student Brett Cooper was named to the winter quarter dean's list at the University of Dayton. The Archbishop McNicholas High School graduate is the son of Sandi and Mike Cooper of Anderson Township.
Associate degree
Gerard Bosse has earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in computer information systems from Ivy Tech State College, Lawrenceburg. He also was selected to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Indiana Academic First Team.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year college students.
