Norwood meetings to discuss levy plan
NORWOOD - The city has scheduled a series of public meetings to discuss its 14-mill levy proposal that will be on the Aug. 3 ballot.
A meeting for Wards 4 and 6 will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish Hall at Drex and Fenwick avenues. A meeting for Wards 2 and 5 will be at noon July 17 at the Norwood Community Center cafeteria at Carter and Courtland avenues.
Wards 1 and 3 will have a meeting at 7 p.m. July 20 at the Norwood Community Center cafeteria.
There will be an open house for all residents from 2 to 4 p.m. July 25 in City Council's chambers at Norwood City Hall, 4645 Montgomery Road.
City officials say the five-year levy is necessary to maintain current levels of service and to prevent the budget deficit from growing to $25 million over the next five years.
Montgomery project developer approved
MONTGOMERY - Council approved Montgomery Gateway Partners Wednesday as the preferred developer for a three-quarter-acre triangle at the city's southern gateway on Montgomery Road.
The company, a collaboration between Daniels Homes and Builder Resources, has proposed a two-story colonial style building with up to 35,000 square feet of office and retail space.
Montgomery Gateway Partners submitted the second lowest bid for the property among six developers at $450,000.
Libraries offering postcards for troops
BATAVIA - Library branches throughout Clermont County are giving away free yellow-ribbon postcards to send to troops serving overseas.
People with loved ones serving overseas may send the postcards directly to soldiers, but people who don't know any soldiers are still asked to send the postcards, made by the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau, to soldiers who don't receive any mail.
Messages must be dropped off at any of the county's 10 branch libraries by July 30.
