DAYTON, Ky. - Gov. Ernie Fletcher has agreed to attend a fund-raiser and tour at least one manufacturing plant with Campbell County statehouse candidate Mark Hayden.
Hayden, a Wilder Republican running in the 67th House District, said details including the date and the plant to be toured must still be worked out. But Hayden said Fletcher's visit would also include attending a campaign fund-raiser that will likely be held in Dayton.
"I'm thrilled and excited the governor has agreed to do this," said Hayden, a lawyer. "It's a chance to meet with the governor and talk about creating good jobs and economic development for the 67th District."
The plant tour will include Campbell County Judge-executive Steve Pendery and state Sen. Katie Stine, R-Fort Thomas. The group will visit one or two manufacturers, Hayden said.
Fletcher has shown a willingness to campaign for Republicans running for statehouse seats this fall. On Friday night he was scheduled to appear at a fund-raiser in Boone County for Sen. Jack Westwood, R-Crescent Springs, who is challenged by Fort Mitchell Democrat Kathy Groob.
Fletcher also appeared at a fund-raiser for Westwood in April that was held in Edgewood.
Hayden is running against Wilder Democrat Dennis Keene, a developer and operator of a manufactured housing business in Grant County. Incumbent Rep. Jim Callahan, D-Wilder, is not seeking re-election.
The 67th District includes Newport, Dayton, Bellevue, Wilder, Southgate and a portion of Highland Heights.
