A $3 million street improvement project downtown begins today and will include curb repairs, grinding and repairing and resurfacing existing pavement.
Nine lane miles on portions of about a dozen streets will be included in the project.
The contractor, John R. Jurgensen Co. of Cincinnati, will begin on a half-mile stretch of Vine Street between Central Parkway and McMicken Avenue. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday on Vine with one lane of traffic being maintained in each direction during construction.
Work will also take place from 6-11 p.m. weeknights and 6-11 p.m. weekends, when necessary, on Fourth Street between Walnut Street and Central Avenue. On-street parking will be restricted during construction with parking restrictions posted in advance.
Other streets to be repaired include:
Fifth Street, between Walnut and Elm streets
Sixth Street, between Walnut and Vine streets
Seventh Street, between Broadway and Sycamore streets and between Central Avenue and Interstate 75
Central Avenue, between Sixth Street and Ezzard Charles Drive
Central Parkway, between Broadway and Sycamore streets
Main Street, between Third and Fourth streets
New Street, between Broadway and Sycamore streets
Sycamore Street, between Seventh Street and Central Parkway
Walnut Street, between Fourth and Fifth streets
