OAKLEY - A house fire Saturday night apparently started from an attic fan catching a bird nest on fire.
Cincinnati firefighters were called to a home in the 3500 block of Harrow Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. The fire started, officials said, when an attic fan in the house - which was unoccupied and being renovated - caught the nest on fire.
Damage to the house was estimated at $10,000.
Homeowners should check attic fans and vents for nests or other items occasionally, fire officials said.
Robbers put Wendy's workers in freezer
FLORENCE - Two men robbed a Wendy's restaurant on Turfway Road early Sunday and fled after forcing all the employees into the freezer.
The robbery occurred about 1:30 a.m. when an employee leaving through the rear door of the restaurant at 7434 Turfway Road was confronted by two men with handguns, police said.
The robbers forced the employee back inside the restaurant and ordered the manager to open the safe, police said. After forcing the six workers into the freezer, the two men left with an undetermined amount of cash.
