Staff/Wire reports
Look for local flavor on national television Thursday morning as a group of teen missionaries from the First Baptist Church of Glen Este, the church of captured soldier Spc. Matt Maupin and his family, jostles for face time on NBC's The Today Show in Rockefeller Plaza.
The teens will sport orange shirts and hoist posters reading "Support Our Troops" and "Pray for Matt Maupin." Maupin, whose 21st birthday is today, has been held captive since April 9. The Pentagon in June said a grainy video purporting to show his execution was inconclusive, and Maupin is still listed as "captured."
Museum receives education grant
The Cincinnati Art Museum has received a $62,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to create a series of learning experiences that connect visual arts, children's literature and performing arts to strengthen the development of language arts skills for children ages 3-8. The museum is partnering with the Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education Center at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Schools to develop the new programming.
