Bengals, NFL want decision to be reviewed

The Bengals and National Football League are challenging a federal judge's decision Monday allowing Hamilton County to sue them over construction of Paul Brown Stadium. U.S. District Judge S. Arthur Spiegel was in "plain error" when he said a county taxpayer's lawsuit was proper and that the county could take it over, attorneys for professional football said in a petition to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday. They want the appeals court to dismiss the county's antitrust suit. "I'd call it a Hail Mary pass," said Stanley Chesley, attorney for the county.

Event supports U.S. troops

DOWNTOWN - Visitors to Fountain Square from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday can see a NASCAR show car and banners showing support for U.S. troops. The event is sponsored by Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve, a Defense Department program promoting employer support for National Guard members and military reservists. The group will also honor local companies at a luncheon at the Westin Hotel. The banners will be sent to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and around the world.

DUI checkpoint through Saturday

SPRINGBORO - Officers will try to deter and intercept impaired drivers in Warren County during a sobriety checkpoint set for 10:30 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday at Ohio 741 near Ohio 73 in Springboro. Lt. Michael Sanders, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Lebanon post, urges people who will be consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements.

TRAFFIC WATCH

Watch for crews repairing the crosswalks at Main and North C streets in Hamilton from 6 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. Crews will be working on the south section of the intersection. Two-way traffic will be maintained. North C Street will be closed between Ross Avenue and Main Street during that time.
