Bengals waive LB Dwayne Levels

The Cincinnati Bengals on Friday waived linebacker Dwayne Levels, who played in 13 games last season with one start for the team.
He had nine tackles on defense and 10 tackles on special teams.
Levels is a second-year NFL player from Oklahoma State.
TENNIS
Mardy Fish became the latest seeded player to lose at the Mercedes-Benz Cup Friday in Los Angeles, leaving Andre Agassi as the tournament's only seed remaining.
Fish, the third seed, was beaten 7-6 (6), 7-6 (7) by Cyril Saulnier of France in the quarterfinals. The American is 0-2 in his career against Saulnier, who reached the semifinals for the second consecutive week. Fish will play for the U.S. team in next month's Olympics.
Agassi, the top seed, met Tommy Haa later Friday.
BANK OF THE WEST: Second-seeded Lindsay Davenport fell behind early but rallied to beat Mashona Washington 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the quarterfinals at Stanford. Top-seeded Venus Williams played fifth-seeded Anna Smashnova-Pistolesi later.
RIOS RETIRES: Former world No. 1 Marcelo Rios retired from tennis because of a recurring back injury, ending a career that included 18 singles titles. Rios, ranked No. 1 for six weeks in 1998, has been mostly inactive for about a year due to back pain. He underwent surgery in Miami and in Santiago, but the problem was not solved.

NKU BASKETBALL: Lexington Catholic's Harrison Morton, a 6-foot-3 guard, has committed to the Norse, who play Kentucky Nov. 3 at Rupp Arena. Morton, a member of the Kentucky All-Stars, averaged 16.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.5 steal per game as a senior last season in leading Lexington Catholic to the 11th Region final.
Morton chose NKU over Georgetown College, Eastern Kentucky, West Florida, Troy State and Florida A&M.
Hockey
HEATLEY INDICTED: Atlanta Thrashers star Dany Heatley was indicted Friday on vehicular homicide and five other charges in the 2003 wreck that claimed the life of a teammate.
Police estimated Heatley was driving his black Ferrari convertible between 60 and 90 mph on a curved road in a residential area when it ran into a brick pillar and iron fence Sept. 29, 2003.
Dan Snyder, 25, died after several days in a coma, and Heatley broke his jaw and tore two ligaments in his knee. He returned to play with the team in January.
DUCKS AIDE NAMED: Darryl Williams,36, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, has been named head coach of the expansion Kansas City franchise in the United Hockey League.

ROLLER HOCKEY: The two-week North American Championships at Sports Plus in Evendale has begun. California's Mission AKS Empire 95 team of 10-and-under players was led by Xavier Umanzor, who posted two assists and played a solid defensive game. The team is also led by Scott Savage, who scored four goals and one empty-netter and later won the fastest skater in the Skills Competition.
FREEDOM WIN: The Florence Freedom opened the second half of the Frontier League baseball season with a 7-6 win over the Evansville Otters. J.D. Foust drove in a Freedom record six runs.
MOTOCROSS: The International Freestyle Motocross Association will return for a fifth year to U.S. Bank Arena Feb. 11-12.
SOCCER: Danny Szetela, 17, signed a contract with MLS. The standout midfielder for both the U.S. Under-17 and Under-20 national teams joins Freddy Adu (D.C. United), Eddie Gaven (MetroStars) and Guillermo Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy) as the latest American youth player in the league.
