The Enquirer

PEEBLES - The body of a woman found Saturday in a wooded area has been identified as 42-year-old Melinda M. Powell of Portsmouth in Scioto County, the Adams County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

The body was discovered Saturday afternoon in a wooded area off Coffee Hollow Road near Peebles. Powell's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (937) 544-2314.

Butler rape suspect arrested in Tennessee

HAMILTON - Tennessee authorities have captured a Butler County rape suspect who missed his trial date last week, but a second rape suspect, wanted in an unrelated case, remains at large.

Acting on information from Butler County sheriff's investigators, police in Sevierville, Tenn., arrested George David Grubb, 44, of Hamilton, at a motel Monday morning.

Grubb had been scheduled for trial last week in Butler County, where he was indicted on five counts of rape - three involving a girl under the age of 13 - and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Authorities didn't know when he might be returned to Ohio.

Meanwhile, police continue looking for Brian Stepp, 30, of Liberty Township, who also missed his Butler County trial date.

Authorities say the crimes happened late last year.

Westwood man indicted for murder

A Westwood man was indicted Monday on charges of murder and illegally having a gun.

Those injuries led to Mitchell's death July 6, according to Hamilton County prosecutors.

Woman drowns in Clermont Co. pool

Rescue personnel responded to a home on Bethel Maple Road about 3:30 p.m. for a report of possible drowning and found the victim, fire officials said.

Her identity and additional details were not available late Monday.
