INDIAN HILL - Robert P. Macrae has been named head of school at Cincinnati Country Day School.
Macrae was chosen after a yearlong search by a committee that included board members, parents and faculty. He is the 11th person to hold that position at the school of 900 students.
Macrae holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, master's degrees from Columbia University's Teachers College and Stanford University; and a doctorate from Columbia.
He served as the assistant headmaster at the Pingry School in New Jersey, where he also coached and taught. He worked as an instructor in the Stanford University School of Education, Leadership Development Institute and as a financial analyst in the leveraged buyout group for PaineWebber.

Four seeking seat on Winton board
FOREST PARK - The Winton Woods School District Board of Education will interview four district residents who are seeking appointment to an opening on the board created by the resignation of Lori Handler.
The applicants are: Priscilla Franklin, Tim Handler, Timothy M. Cleary and Lisa M. Nack.
Lori Handler, who was on the board almost 13 years, resigned June 30. Her term runs through December 2005.
Finalists will be interviewed at a special board meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday The board will make an appointment during that meeting.
Mount Notre Dame presents 'Seussical'
READING - The musical Seussical opens a two-week run at Mount Notre Dame High School at 8 p.m. Friday in the school's Salerno Center for the Performing Arts, 711 E. Columbia Ave.

Grant buys lab tool for McAuley High
COLLEGE HILL - The American Chemical Society's educational grant committee has given McAuley High School a $1,500 grant, which will be used to purchase Vernier LabPro units.
For use in various chemistry, physics, biology and geophysics classes, the units enable students to collect, monitor and record data directly onto graphing calculators or computers. The units can collect data using more than 40 sensors. Shirley Frey, chemistry teacher and science department chair, secured the grant.
Teaching Group offers seminars
"The First Day of School and Beyond: A Teacher Induction for a More Successful School Year," seminars conducted by The Teaching Group will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Holiday Inn, Worthington, Ohio, and Aug. 4 at the Manchester Inn in Middletown.
The Teaching Group was founded by Verdale Thompson and Terry Williams-Richard, who provide services and training that will help teachers and administrators improve student learning, and district and student report cards.
Cost is $159 per person, which includes a continental breakfast, a resource booklet and a certificate of participation.
