The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this week featured Champ Car driver Dario Franchitti, whom the story described as a man with "model looks" who "pilots helicopters and collects Ferraris" and is married to Ashley Judd.

Gentlemen, start your hating.

Cribs

In a story in the New York Daily News previewing the release of Joe Namath's new biography Namath, the paper recounts that Broadway Joe's famous Upper East Side apartment had its own swimming pool . . . in the living room.

If it wasn't for bad luck ...

San Diego Padres minor-leaguer Tagg Bozied became a hard-luck hero of Al Bundy proportions when he suffered a season-ending injury celebrating his game-winning grand slam. Bozied jumped on home plate to end Portland's 8-5 win over Tacoma and immediately went down at the feet of his teammates with a ruptured patella tendon.

It's getting strange in herre

Rap star Nelly became part-owner of the NBA's expansion Charlotte Bobcats this week.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but consider the team trainer's band-aid supply as good as raided.

Wolf, wolf, wolf

The Toronto Raptors on Thursday named Scott Howard director of international player personnel, raising the question: That's the kid from Teen Wolf, right? It is, isn't it?

It's nice to see that despite the terribly feeble jump shot and the Urkelesque stature, the kid stayed with the game. Wonder if he's still with Boof.

Interesting aside: For a while there was an Internet rumor that Mike Piazza played the movie's bad guy, Mick McAllister. Some online reviews actually credit Piazza with the role. Although it's quite possibly the best sports rumor of all time, it's not true.

Tickle fight

Actual bout on the undercard of Mike Tyson's fight Friday in Louisville: Randy "The Gentleman" Griffin (18-1-1, 10 KO), Louisville vs. Julio "The Cuban Lover" Garcia (25-3-2, 11 KO), Las Vegas.

Awwwww, The Gentleman vs. The Cuban Lover. Sounds precious. Are these video game characters, or actual boxers?

Happy horse

River Downs horse name of the week: Hapsirishpub. Paid $107.60 to win, too.
