Ring around the Web: After a divorce, some couples would just as soon not face each other. But when children are involved, communication is necessary, and that's where KidsnCommon.com comes in.
More than just an e-mail account, the site takes details from the divorce decree, such as custody schedules, payment of child support and shared expenses, and uses an online wizard to organize the details into a shared calendar. It was developed by a husband and wife team who have a blended family of five children between them; they say they were inspired by their own harried experiences to create a safe place where divorced families could go to communicate.
Membership is $9.95 a month; a discounted annual membership is $99. You can try it out for 30 days for free. Visit KidsnCommon.com.
Singles events
Social time: A new monthly event for singles debuts today aimed at helping people learn about relationships, while offering them a chance to meet others. The Final Friday Night Singles Social is the brainchild of local relationships coach Jimmy Bowman. In tonight's 90-minute workshop, titled the Dating Traps Game, Bowman will explore relationship choices that prevent people from getting what they want in life, then will brainstorm possible solutions. Cost for the 8 p.m. program is $15 at the door. It's at Holiday Inn North, 3855 Hauck Road, Sharonville. Information: 751-8926.
Regulation men
Dude!: Guys who just want to be guys will get the empowerment they crave at the "Save the Regular Guy Man-Over Challenge," starting at 9 tonight at Murphy's Pub, 2329 W. Clifton Ave. It's all part of a national "Save the Regular Guy Tour" that has been storming other cities, including Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago and Dallas, this summer in an attempt to help men "reclaim their right to act regular, look regular and be regular in a world where pomp too often is mistaken for substance," organizers say.
(Do regular guys use hair products? They must - the tour is sponsored by Consort Hair Care for Men.) See their Web site at www.savetheregularguy.com.
Cheap treats
Mix it up: Summer is perfect for frozen treats, but can be costly when the kids invite all their pals over for a snack. Try these penny-pinching ideas, from The Dollar Stretcher Newsletter:
Mix fruit or jam into yogurt. Freeze in small, snack-sized resealable bags. Cut a hole in the end of the bag for easy eating.
Make pudding, adding coconut, nuts, marshmallows, crushed cookies or sprinkles. Pour into molds and freeze.
Stick a toothpick in the center of blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or sliced bananas. Dip in chocolate and freeze.
