Peoples Bancorp replaces auditor

The parent of Peoples Community Bank has a new auditing firm, about a week after cutting ties with its previous auditor. West Chester-based Peoples Community Bancorp Inc. selected BKD, a Springfield, Mo., firm with a downtown Cincinnati branch, after Grant Thornton resigned from the account. Grant Thornton made the move after the bank hired a former Grant Thornton employee as a senior vice president.

Longaberger Co. idling two plants

The Longaberger Co., which has said it may lay off a fifth of its work force in September if sales don't pick up, said it will close two plants for a week next month. The privately-held Newark, Ohio-based company makes handcrafted baskets and other products.

Figures incorrect

A story in Friday's Business section about Kendle International's second-quarter earnings contained incorrect figures. The company earned $211,000 during the quarter, compared with a $423,000 loss the year before. The company laid off 29 employees in March.
