Amber Alert dropped for 16-year-old girl
FAIRFIELD - An Amber Alert that was issued Friday afternoon for a 16-year-old girl who police said went missing in Fairfield around 11:30 a.m. was canceled Friday night when police determined that she had not been taken against her will.
Police said Amanda Volkerding was seen on Gilmore Drive late Friday morning in the company of a man driving a car with a Kentucky license plate.
The car was last seen going south toward Interstate 275, but police said they are not sure of the car's destination or whereabouts.
Mark Rogers, FBI spokesman, said the FBI got involved at the request of Fairfield police. Rogers said the alert was issued because authorities believed Amanda was in some danger. Rogers said the alert was canceled when authorities determined the original reports were unfounded.

Deputies were called to 9212 Katterman Road about 9:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported stabbing and found the wounded couple inside the home.
Police recapture wrongly freed inmate
An accused burglar was mistakenly let out of the Hamilton County Justice Center Thursday, but was recaptured shortly before noon Friday and was back behind bars.
Authorities said Michael Bowen, 18, was released by jailers who meant to release a different inmate with the same name.
Their paperwork got mixed up, officials said, and the wrong Bowen was let go after the right Bowen posted bond on a charge of passing bad checks. The right Bowen had been released after posting bond.
The Bowen that police mistakenly released was charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
Police recaptured Bowen in the 700 block of Elberon in Price Hill.
