LIBERTY TWP. - A Liberty Township woman who was shot twice in the head while she was driving to work Monday has been moved out of intensive care.
Amy Rezos, 35, was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital after Butler County Sheriff's detectives say her husband, Chris Rezos, 35, hid in her van and shot her while she was driving on LeSourdsville-West Chester Road.
"She's doing great," said Kevin Jones, Amy Rezos' brother. "She's talking coherently. She knows everything that's going on."
Chris Rezos, who was injured when the van crashed after the shooting, remains hospitalized at Middletown Regional Hospital with head and leg injuries, Butler County Sheriff's Detective Monte Mayer said. Rezos is expected to be charged with attempted aggravated murder and kidnapping once he is released.
Rezos is already facing an attempted aggravated murder charge in connection with an attack on Amy Rezos July 2. In that incident, Rezos is accused of hitting his wife about the head with a flashlight, trying to suffocate her by putting a pillow over her face and trying to drown her in a bathtub, court records show.
Rezos was free on $100,000 bond when the shooting occurred.
Donations for Amy Rezos can be made to the Amy Rezos Family Fund at any Fifth Third Bank branch.
