TV Best

Gannett News Service

Must see

Last Comic Standing, 9 p.m., Channels 5, 22.

Tonight, we learn who is the champion of this second season. Viewers saw three finalists Tuesday, then voted for the winner, who will get a Comedy Central concert and an NBC development deal.

First, the show will drag things out. It will spend almost an hour before announcing the winner.

Worth watching

Blue Collar TV, 8 p.m., Channel 64.

In its third episode this remains both funny and frustrating.

The frustration involves lost potential: Blue Collar TV rarely uses the great stand-up skills of its stars (Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Larry the Cable Guy) and tonight's guest (Ron White). Mostly, it has them doing so-so sketches.

Tonight's show starts, as usual, with a terrific little stand-up bit by Foxworthy. It ends by giving a fair amount of time to all four in a stand-up style "I Believe" segment.

In between, there are sketches - "Hick Eye For the Queer Guy," for instance - that tend to be one-note. This is sort of like when ABC tried to change Dolly Parton instead of letting her shine.

Soccer, 1 p.m., MSNBC and Telemundo. On the day before the Olympics' opening ceremony, there are some early soccer matches. MSNBC carries the game between Iraq and Portugal; Telemundo, which is a Spanish-language channel, carries various games until 8 p.m.

Big Brother 5, 8 p.m., Channels 12, 7. It's time for the fifth person to be ousted.

Will & Grace, 8 p.m., Channels 5, 22. Will nervously introduces his new boyfriend to Grace. Meanwhile, Jack feels he has to audition new friends, since he'll need a replacement when Karen marries.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7. It's the ultimate road kill - a man in a raccoon suit is shot and then hit by a car.

Without a Trace, 10 p.m., Channels 12, 7. A wounded soldier disappears before he can return to Iraq.

ER, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 22. This reruns the season finale. Kovac tries to help a woman and a son stranded at their car; then he confronts a much bigger disaster.
