O'Gara-Hess to armor Humvees

Fairfield's O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring will share in $45 million in military contracts announced by parent Armor Holdings Inc.

The Jacksonville, Fla., military and defense supplier said the contracts would yield about $20 million in revenue this year, incremental to its previous guidance of $835 million to $865 million this year. Armor's shares closed Tuesday at $33.76, down 18 cents.

The contracts include a foreign military order to armor 40 High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicles (or Humvees) supplied by AM General Corp. and 5,100 gunner protection kits to be added to armored Humvees in the field. The company will supply 180 supplemental armor kits Marine Corps, Air Force and Army Humvees.

O'Gara will also supply 385 sets of armor for truck cabs produced by Stewart & Stevenson for the Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle program. The company also said Textron Marine and Land Systems ordered 34 sets for applique armor components for the Army's Armored Security Vehicle program.
