HAMILTON - An internal investigation into Butler County Veterans Service Commission Director George Boettjer has ended with his resignation.
Boettjer, on paid leave since July 2, will resign effective Sept. 6.
"He chose to resign, so the investigation ended without any findings of any kind," said Douglas Duckett, county personnel director.
Mona Boettjer said Tuesday that she and her husband could not comment.
The Fairfield Township resident was relieved of duties last month during an internal investigation into "some disputes within the office," Duckett said.
Duckett would not discuss specifics, except to say the issues were not of a criminal, financial or sexual nature.
Angry veterans last month told county commissioners they were concerned about their confidential personal records on Boettjer's computer, which was confiscated during the investigation. Duckett said the computer was moved to a secure location to protect the files.
Boettjer's resignation allows the five-person Veterans Service Commission, an independent county board, to appoint a new executive director.
Office manager Wanda Charleville has been acting supervisor.
