Ann Taylor debuts its 50th anniversary collection in a new multimedia ad campaign featuring 50 possible "Anns": Linda Evangelista, Patti Hansen and daughters Alexandra and Theodora Richards, Twiggy, Beverly Johnson and Frankie Rayder among them.
Photographer Annie Leibovitz shot all the figures from fashion's past and present, and its rising stars. The focus of the collection, which includes a version of the shirtdress that the retailer sold in 1954, is a return to sportswear classics.
"From its beginning in 1954, Ann Taylor has worked with some of the world's most beautiful women," says Jerome Jessup, senior executive vice president. "In 2004 we wanted to celebrate that idea - not just the incredible beauty of these women, but their true selves as women at their best, which has been the DNA of the Ann Taylor brand from day one."
Vogue will run a 50-page insert in some September editions.
To coincide with the new campaign, which not only features magazine and in-store promotions but also spots to run in Manhattan's Times Square, Ann Taylor is launching a Web site called "I am Ann Taylor." It provides a forum for visitors to submit Ann Taylor-related stories for publishing consideration and entry forms for a sweepstakes to win a $50,000 wardrobe.
Ann Taylor operates 685 stores in 45 states, including several in this region, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
