WEST UNION - Misdemeanor charges against a high school administrator accused of dangling a student over a railing were dropped after he resigned as his trial was to begin Wednesday.
Ronnie Roush, 30, of Seaman, agreed to resign as assistant principal at North Adams High School just as prosecutors were to begin opening arguments in the Adams County Court trial.
Roush also agreed to give up state certificates that allow him to teach, serve as principal and referee high school sports and agreed not to work in education for at least two years.
Charges of aggravated menacing and endangering a child were dismissed and will not be re-filed unless Roush breaks the agreement, prosecutors said.
Roush was accused of picking up a 13-year-old girl and holding her over a railing at the top of a two-story stairwell in March 2003.
