AGASSI UPSET: Andre Agassi no longer has to worry about a rematch with Lleyton Hewitt.
The top-seeded Agassi was eliminated in straight sets in the semifinals of the Legg Mason by unseeded Gilles Muller, a 21-year-old left-hander from Luxembourg. Muller ousted Agassi 6-4, 7-5 and advanced to play the No. 2-seeded Hewitt for the championship on Sunday. Hewitt advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Robby Ginepri, the fourth-seeded player.
It was Muller's first match against Agassi, who had won nine straight coming into the semifinal. That run included Agassi's 59th single title on Aug. 8 - a three-set win over Hewitt in Cincinnati.

SARATOGA: Society Selection, trained by "Giant Killer" Allen Jerkens swung to the outside while gaining at the top of the stretch, then passed Stellar Jayne and odds-on favorite Ashado to post an upset victory in the $750,000 Alabama Stakes. With Cornelio Velasquez aboard, Society Selection ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:02 3/5 over a sloppy track to win the 124th Alabama by 2 1/2 lengths.
PACIFIC CLASSIC: Pleasantly Perfect is the 6-5 favorite in the eight-horse field in the $1 million, 1 1/4 mile race today at Del Mar.
The odds reflect his status as the reigning champion of the Breeders' Cup Classic and the Dubai World rather than his runner-up finish in the Aug. 1 San Diego Handicap at Del Mar.
Others entered in the Pacific Classic: Choctaw Nation, Colonial Colony, During, El Elogiado, Night Patrol, Perfect Drift and Total Impact.
Long shot Amorama made a late charge and beat Ticker Tape by a nose in stakes record time in the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks.
