BRIDGETOWN - Jane Knauber Baker, art director and partner at The Idea House, Kanet, Chambless & Baker, a downtown marketing firm, died of breast cancer Aug. 15.
The Bridgetown resident was 47.
Mrs. Baker's skill and ability were enhanced by her willingness to integrate technology into the creative process, according to Rhonda Kanet Chambless, principal partner in the firm.
Mrs. Baker was "one of the first in the country to successfully bring electronic pre-press technology into the graphic design environment, and she has been credited with developing electronic archiving protocol for digital files," Chambless said.
Mrs. Baker was a graduate of Oak Hills High School and the Art Institute of Cincinnati and began her career with Richardson and Associates. She joined Kanet Productions (now The Idea House) in 1989 as art director and became a partner 13 years later. Her accounts included General Electric, Metro, Provident Bank, SC Johnson, Southwestern Publishing and YMCA branches across the country.
"Although I first met Jane when we were searching for an agency art director, our professional association soon grew into the deepest friendship I have ever known," Chambless said.
"Truly, she was a person of the rarest and dearest qualities - genuine compassion for others, unwavering loyalty and scrupulous ethics. She was peerless in all those regards - and many, many more."
Survivors include her husband, Greg; her father, Edward H. Walter; a daughter, Sarah O'Conner; a son, Eric Baker; three sisters, Lynn M. Darbie, Ellen R. Davis, and Julie R. Zieverink; a brother, Michael E. Walter, and one grandson.
Services have been held.
Memorials: American Cancer Society, 11117 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
