Matta's Buckeyes to face Knight
The Enquirer
Ohio State coach Thad Matta will take his first OSU team to Texas to face Bob Knight and his Texas Tech club.
Ohio State's schedule was announced Wednesday, with the Buckeyes opening the season Nov. 15 against Towson State at home in the opening round of the Guardians Classic. Matta was hired July 7, a month after Jim O'Brien's seven-year tenure ended with his firing.
Saint Joseph's, which rose as high as No. 1 late last season, visits Value City Arena on New Year's Eve. The Buckeyes also have nonconference road games against Clemson on Dec. 1 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and LSU in Baton Rouge on Jan. 15, after starting Big Ten play.
The Buckeyes, who open Big Ten play on Jan. 5 at Illinois, play four league teams just once under the conference's rotating schedule: Purdue, Michigan, at Northwestern and at Michigan State.
