Lakota's student count up 649 from last year
LIBERTY TWP. - If the numbers hold, the Lakota Schools could be growing at a faster pace this year than in the last few years. Enrollment in Ohio's eighth-largest district Monday stood at 16,996.
That was 649 students higher than last year's official count of 16,347, taken the first week in October. For the last few years, the district has been averaging 300-400 new students.
"That number could change some," Jon Weidlich, district spokesman, said. "We don't know how many people moved to other areas and we haven't gotten a request for their records yet."
